my story

Headshot of Frances Norbury in Cholsey, South Oxfordshire

I am based in Cholsey in South Oxfordshire. I originally trained as a musician - I play the oboe and have loved performing and travelling as a freelance orchestral player for more than 20 years.

In 2014 I had a substantial course of acupuncture that was very beneficial for me. I had always been drawn to doing therapeutic work alongside performing, and so in 2019 I enrolled for acupuncture training at the City College of Acupuncture in London. I received my Licentiate in Acupuncture in 2022 and am very excited to begin my journey in this new field alongside my performing work. I am a member of the British Acupuncture Council, am fully insured, and undertake regular and varied CPD work according to the requirements of the BAcC.

Chinese medicine is a huge and endlessly rich subject. In particular I am interested in the long history of Chinese medical thought, and the system it has developed of living in a profoundly healthy way, in tune with our surroundings and with the seasons. This interest chimes with my love of the environment and wildlife of this beautiful part of the world, where I was born and grew up. All the pictures on the website reflect this and are taken locally to Cholsey.

In my free time I enjoy being outside as much as possible, walking our dog, gardening on our allotment, swimming in the Thames and paddle boarding.
